Class 442 units some of which are coming back into use for South Western Railway after a refurbishment programme










Yes, I know this isn't an EMU but it appeared at Winchester while I was there and I do like class 60s. This one now works for GBRf after a short career with Colas.

The A4 'Sir Nigel Gresley' is now in the workshop at NRM for its ten year boiler overhaul. This is it... admittedly it doesn't look much like it but I am assured that it really is 60007. And one of her predecessors from the East Coast Main line, the Stirling single complete with its new tender.

Class 68.

DRS have tried to bring a bit more style back into its locomotive designs with the new class 68 locos. I found 68002 standing at York Station in the spot where we usually find two 1957 vintage class 20s. 68002 is named INTREPID. 68002 stands alongside the snow plough in York station. The loco stands next to the new signalling centre.

Diversions etc.

  While staying near to the Carlisle to Newcastle line recently all ECML London to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness trains were diverted past our door! A London bound train heads East through Bardon Mill Station.  A train of aviation fuel passes bound for Prestwick. A northbound train passes heading west. Tanks for Fort William head west.  A local stopping train pulls away from Bardon Mill station bound for Newcastle. Another Azuma bound for Scotland.
