A train of limestone arrives from Tunstead Quarry in the Peak District. The class 47 runs round the train... it will be taken further by the company's shunting engine.  The empties are inspected before they leave.  A train of tanks and a train of empty hoppers are ready to leave the yard.  Train of empty hoppers approaches Northwich station.

York station.  The nearest we got to the North of England services. All these pictures were taken during the time that spare North of England sets were leased to GNER for use on Kings Cross to York and Kings Cross to Leeds trains - 2000 until the contract ended in 2005. They took a heavy toll on the overhead power supply.

These pictures go back to the early 1990s and Network South East units at Winchester. Class 442 units some of which are coming back into use for South Western Railway after a refurbishment programme Yes, I know this isn't an EMU but it appeared at Winchester while I was there and I do like class 60s. This one now works for GBRf after a short career with Colas.

Something a bit different this time. A new project about the life of York Station. It will concentrate on the building, the details and the rush of people who pass through it every day. The trains might get a look in but as incidental details !! It will include abstract images and will be in black and white (as you can see above).
