The testing goes on.

Leeds is obviously involved in testing the new trains. Here one of them is approaching the station from the west.  It enters the platform... but does not stay long. Back in York two of them are in the south facing bays.  Here they are next to a service HST. If they last as long as the HSTs they will be well worth the money and time taken to get them into service.

More from Leeds station....

The class 91s are soon to be replaced. The DVTs will also be off lease soon. "For the Fallen" in the station approaches. A class 158 showing off its new white based Northern Rail livery.

Leeds station...

A morning on Leeds station brought more of the familiar and quite a bit of the unfamiliar... mostly in the form of Electric Multiple Units. Class 170 DMUs are becoming more familiar in this part of the world after they were transferred from Scotrail... this one is still in its Scotrail livery.  Class 91s are the usual power on the LNER trains from Kings Cross. This one is one of the Remembrance liveried examples... 91111 named "For the Fallen".  The Mark 4 DVTs are looking a bit shabby now.  The class 321/9 and 322 EMUs are used on the Doncaster local trains as well as the Aire Valley local trains.  The class 333 EMUs are used almost exclusively on the Aire Valley suburban trains. This on is in the Northern Trains red livery which is about to be phased out. Unit no. 333001 seen here on the left (and below) is in the new white based Northern livery.

More test trains....

This is the problem which has delayed the introduction of these trains. There are health and safely concerns that these cables will be used as a ladder! A redesign is needed.
