Wooden Gates.... ECML.

 A recent stay in Alnmouth in Northumberland gave an opportunity for some shots of traffic on the northern section of the ECML. Wooden Gates is the name of a level crossing at the southern end of the up and down loops which are immediately south of Alnmouth station. The crossing no longer has wooden gates but full barriers.  The weekend we stayed there the line was completely closed for engineering works so we saw nothing at all until Monday morning. A class 56 waits for a path northbound with an engineers train.  North Blyth Alcan to Fort William Alcan tanks heads north 9 minutes early on Tuesday 21st September. Trans Pennine Express class 802/3 heads north towards Alnmouth Station.  Freightliner class 66 heads a down engineers train which includes several  wagon loads of concrete sleepers. A class 70 (70 802) heads the Oxwellmains - Seaham Harbour cement tanks towards  Wooden Gates level crossing 12 minutes before its booked time. Cross Country class 220 heads south with the River Al
