Buxton station and TMD

Image
When the diesel Depot opposite Buxton Station closed in October 1997 the site was abandoned and soon became overgrown. The buildings were demolished in March 2016 but before that happened various pieces of equipment were taken from the site and Joe (above) was made from them as a reminder of the depot. He stands proudly on the station platform today.  The statue was named by Alexi Sayle whose father was named Joseph and was a guard. He said "I am very pleased and touched to see this memorial named Joe in honour of my dad and all railway guards." Above we see the site today. The same view c.1990
