First Trans Pennine Express have now started to use their new mark 5 five car sets with the hired in class 68s on the Scarborough to Liverpool Lime Street service. Loco no. 68 027 (named Splendid) led the train into York today and attracted a lot of platform attention. Here the train comes off the Scarborough bridge into platform 4. The driving trailer was at the rear of the train on this occasion. Awaiting the right of way. The station was full of rail enthusiasts waiting to see the steam hauled Scarborough Spa Express (which was failed and so diesel drawn). The new train was a bonus for the photographers.
